Stretching from the inspiring heights of the Cascade Crest to the open lowlands of the Columbia River, the 4-million acre Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest is defined by contrasts. Vast wild areas offer solitude, challenge and freedom while hundreds of miles to roads and trails offer easy access to one of the most heavily visited forests in the western US. The Bureau of the Land Management (BLM) administers over 450.000 acres of deep desert canyons, high open spaces and saltwater islands across Washington State. This land is managed for many uses, including wildlife and plant habitat, recreation opportunities, livestock grazing forestry and mining.
