Welcome to the Pisgah National Forest. The Grandfather, Toecane and French Broad Ranger Districts are scattered along the eastern edge of the mountains of western North Carolina and offer visitors a variety of opportunities for outdoor recreation, over 600 miles of hiking and nature trails, and scenic views of waterfalls, plants, and flowers.

The Pisgah National Forest in western North Carolina is a land of mile-high peaks, cascading waterfalls, and heavily forested slopes. The Pisgah is primarily a hardwood forest and produces some of the best timber in the United States. Many woody plants and vines found on the Pisgah National Forest cannot be found anywhere else in the eastern United States.
