Over 1.3 million acres between Montana and Idaho are preserved in this historic wilderness area. Covering both sides of the Bitterroot range, this wilderness is rich in Nez Perce tribal history, as well as mining, trapping and packing by immigrants. Some of the steepest granite ridges and narrowest canyons can be seen here. White water rafting is challenging and with over 100 alpine lakes, the fishing is phenomenal.
