Admiralty Island is remote, wild, and best known for its dense bear population, but recreation is not limited to bear watching. Cabins for public use are available for rent. Recreationists can hunt, fish, or paddle a canoe across the island on a chain of lakes. They can watch whales feed on herring; camp on one of hundreds of small beaches; or hike to the alpine and see deer, ptarmigan and outstanding views.
